How to get involved

The Hawaiian Ride for Youth has community at its heart - and while the riders are pedalling 700kms from Albany to Perth, schools and communities are getting on board to support them, by creating their own fundraisers to make a difference for youth mental health.

There are so many ways to fundraise, from school lap-a-thons, bake sales, jumble sales, free dress days, colourful hair day, team lunches and so much more.

Join us, and help make a difference for young people across Western Australia, by raising funds for Youth Focus' vital mental health services.

Spotlight local heroes

Meet some of the incredible schools and local communities the Hawaiian Ride for Youth visit during Ride week who are making an incredible difference raising funds and awareness for youth mental health.

Walpole Community Op Shop

A highlight of Ride Week is the evening activities and dress ups. A visit to the Walpole Community Op Shop is a must when the Riders and Support Crew arrive in town to purchase their attire for the evening. The Op Shop kindly donated back the proceeds from the purchase of the outfits to Hawaiian Ride for Youth this year.

Pemberton District High School

School Visits are an integral part of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth providing the Riders the opportunity to engage with students on the importance of positive mental health. Students at Pemberton District High School hold a free dress day and bake sale on the day the riders visit the school generously donating the funds raised to Hawaiian Ride for Youth.

Shire of Gnowangerup

The Hawaiian Ride for Youth are treated to a visit to Paul the Tractor on the HorsePower Highway in the Shire of Gnowangerup. This provides the opportunity for the Riders to meet with local community groups from Gnowangerup and surrounding areas to share awareness about youth mental health. The Shire of Gnowangerup presented Youth Focus with a cheque for $5000 from their September Long Table Lunch.

About the Hawaiian Ride for Youth

The Hawaiian Ride for Youth is held annually in March across 4.5 days with riders covering over 700kms on their way from Albany to Perth to raise funds and awareness for Youth Focus. While cycling through towns in WA's South West, Great Southern and Wheatbelt the riders visit high schools to engage with students on the importance of positive mental health.

The Ride began in 2003 when a small group of recreational cyclists decided to combine their resources and raise funds for Youth Focus to support youth mental health. Since its inception the Ride has raised more than $36 million for Youth Focus.

The awareness raised for Youth Focus as a result of the Hawaiian Ride for Youth is equally as important as the funds raised. The riders not only create awareness about Youth Focus through their individual fundraising campaigns but also in their local communities and at regional schoool visits where riders engage with students about the importance of positive mental health.
